Explosion-Proof Lighting for High-Spirit Environments
Distilleries & Breweries: Managing Ethanol Vapours
The Challenge:
In the British spirits industry, from large-scale Scotch distilleries to boutique gin producers, ethanol is the primary hazard. Ethanol vapours are heavier than air and can accumulate in low-lying areas or closed maturation warehouses. A single spark from a non-certified light fitting can trigger a catastrophic explosion.
The Solution:
ATEX certification is mandatory here. In production areas where vapours are frequently present, Zone 1 fittings are required. In storage and maturation areas, Zone 2 is often sufficient. Our fixtures are not only explosion-proof but also feature specific Temperature Classes (T-ratings). Since ethanol has a relatively low ignition temperature, our LEDs are engineered to remain cool on the surface, ensuring they never become an ignition source.
Recommended Products: Our ATEX LED High Bays are designed for high-ceiling spirit stores, while the TPCE Linear Series provides high-lumen, vapour-proof lighting for bottling lines.
Technical Focus: Zone 1 & 2 Gas Protection | T-Class compliance | IP66 Ingress Protection.
